Cat 1
Thank God it is now officially the Year of the Dog, as I have HAD IT with cats. After the attack from my mother's Texas feral cat, "Mama", I was aleady feeling a little wary. Then my poor cat had what I thought was a stroke, and when I took him home from the emergency vet visit, I thought I would observe him to see how he did with that. Yesterday he looked much worse, so I took him to the regular vet. I was sure I was coming back without him, and I was very emotional. But lo and behold...
I am back and I have the cat. He had been bitten on the neck/shoulder and had a raging infection. His rabies vaccinations were up to date, but they still warn that it could be rabies (he had symptoms). So now he will be medicated and I have to apply compresses the rest of the day. If he responds to the antibiotics, he is fine. If not, he has to be euthanized to check for rabies, and he bit me last week and broke the skin. This is when I touched the painful area. So I sure hope he does not have rabies.
At least they don't give the shots in your stomach anymore.
